Our strands of work

We have three strands of work and responsibilities that we strive to fulfil:

1. Tautoko: solidarity and showing up for Māori-led movements, campaigns, and initiatives for the restoration of tino rangatiratanga and mana motuhake
2. Education for our own Asian communities: Te Tiriti workshops catered to tauiwi/Asians, translation of Māori issues into Asian languages.
3. Relationship-building and social support for Asian activists

How you can support or get involved:
  • Supporters can follow our Facebook, Instagram @asians4tinorangatiratanga and Twitter @asians4tino.
  • To be added to our volunteer list, please fill out this form and we will get back to you soon!
  • If there are no existing ASTR branches in your region, get in touch with us if you would like to set one up.

To volunteer, you are strongly encouraged to have attended a Te Tiriti o Waitangi workshop in the past (this can be any Tiriti workshop and doesn't need to be one delivered by ASTR), and you agree to uphold our Code of Conduct Values and Principles.

Volunteer membership is open to Asian tauiwi who support the sovereignty of Māori in Aotearoa. However, non-Asian friends and fellow travellers may be added to newsletter lists and we will endeavour to send out communications of relevant events and opportunities to get involved.
